Pitcher

Pitcher (2025) is a handbuilt ceramic vase form based on the carnivorous Pitcher Plant. Constructing this piece was an exercise in slowing down, and was intended to lean away from the functional work I am so used to. I enjoyed the process of making the curled lip look predatory and toothy, and layered glazes to create a dripping effect that accentuated the textured sculptural sections. As an art piece, it seems at home tucked among other plants outside, or used as a vase, slowly digesting the flowers placed inside.
